Federal eligibility rules for NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid are expected to change beginning in October 2026 and January 2027. No changes have taken effect yet. Continue using your benefits and respond to any notices you receive.
October 1, 2026:
Some non-citizen immigrants who qualify today may no longer be eligible under the new rules.
January 1, 2027:
Some adults may be required to work, volunteer, or attend school to keep or qualify for coverage. Some individuals may also need to renew coverage every six months.
